The Overskirt was worn by middle to upperclass ladies, usually with a matching low necked bodice or doublet. This version is based on an existing garment in a German Museum, but the same style was worn throughout Europe. It has straight front and back panels and triangular side gores, and can be made with or without a train. Instructions are given for cartridge pleating or flat pleats sewn by hand or machine. Instructions are given for attaching the Overskirt to a bodice or doublet, creating a gown, or for making it up as a separate garment with a waistband.
The Overskirt pattern is NOT the same as that included in the now out of print Elizabethan Lady’s Wardrobe pattern. It is a completely new draft, incorporating better fit and more historical accuracy.
This pattern is printed on white bond paper.
Sizes 2-30 are included.
